Slow Month

December is traditionally a very slow month for the job market, for the obvious reasons: it’s almost Christmas and New Year, and people are busy planning for the holidays and shopping for gifts (and hunting for deals). So if you don’t hear back from a headhunter or corporate recruiter or HR manager or line manager, don’t be surprised. Activity should pick up towards the middle of January. Of course, you need to keep the big picture in mind: the U.S. economy still sucks, and the financial job market is still pretty bad. Plan accordingly, and have a good and safe holiday season, anyway.
