The simple mean of x and y is 20. If z = 5, what is the average of x, y and z?

    ANSWER
     
    This is easy — as long as you’re not experiencing a nervous breakdown at the interview, you should be able to solve this quickly.
     
    The sum of x and y is 40, so the sum of all three variables is 45. Therefore, the new average is 15.
